I picked up this MOPAR over three years ago. My family and I have really
enjoyed it very much. At the time I wasn't even looking for a MOPAR. Years back I had
a 65 Belvedere 383 that was in perfect condition but needed a paint job. I only
shelled out a Ben Franklin for it. But I was young and didn't know what I had.
I've had a few MOPARS' and wish I still had them. I've always said there's
nothing like a
MOPAR.
I was looking through the Auto Trader one day and noticed this fine looking
Belvedere and noticed it was in Haltom City which is where I live. So I took off
to go check it out just for the fun of it. When I
pulled up and saw it in the back yard I said to myself "This is the one." The
next day I drove my baby home and have never regretted it. It's a blue or green
turquoise with white interior. I think it's more green than blue but have been
told both. Powered by a 383-Super Commando, auto trans with shift kit, dual
exhaust, factory A/C, cruise control, front disc brakes and power steering. It was
almost fully restored when I purchased it. I replaced the glove box, instrument
bezel, door rest and of course I had to install a stereo system. I did leave
the factory am radio in it. I am going to make some modifications to the engine
at a
later time. I am putting a bigger cam, aluminum intake, headers, rocker roller
arms, a better carb and having the heads worked over.
I've had some offers to let it go but I can't do that because it's part of the
family now and my two son's are already talking about who will get it when I
kick the bucket. I would like to thank Sandie and Bernie for making me aware of
Cowtown Mopar Performance Club and have enjoyed being a member. I look forward
to many more meetings and events.
Thank you Gary for telling us your Mopar story.
