Sam Jeffus' 1973 Plymouth Road Runner

1973 Plymouth Road Runner

After five years of wishing and searching for a nice Mopar B body, (Charger R/T or Road Runner), I am now the owner of this immaculate 1973 Plymouth Road Runner. The car is factory stock just as it was when it rolled off the dealership lot except for a 600 Holley carb. The 340 Wedge motor and engine compartment are exceptionally clean and nicely detailed. It has bucket seats, rear window defogger, console with slap stick shifter, 727 torqueflite, factory hood pins, original polyglass spare tire, and documentation showing that it is a well preserved low mileage vehicle.

My Road Runner was built at the Chrysler Ontario Canada assembly plant and has spent most of its life in and around Pennsylvania and West Virginia. In July 2002, the car was the Grand Prize giveaway vehicle at the Carlisle All Mopar Nationals and was won by Mr. Charles Davis of Beckley West Virginia. During the next four years, Mr. Davis took the car to numerous large shows in West Virginia, Virginia, and the Mopar Nationals in Columbus Ohio.

Mr. Davis decided he needed room for another project vehicle so he sold the Road Runner to Muscle City, Inc. in Salem Virginia. The car was posted on their website where I found it and after three weeks of negotiating and the trading of my Duster, I happily took ownership and had it shipped to my driveway. The only improvement I plan to make will be the installation of Flowmaster mufflers, but the car will remain factory stock. It has plenty of power to cruise the streets and highways. And I love tooting the horn at any opportunity.

BEEP! BEEP! The BEEP goes on!
