This is my 1967 Chrysler Newport 4-door sedan. Purchased in Sept. 1995 in Connecticut for nostalgic reasons (my dad let me drive my granddad’s 1966 Chrysler T&C (TNT 440) wagon after high-school).
I have the build sheet!
Here’s the details —– 383 big block, 9.2:1 compression (uses 87 octane, w/performance advance), added Accel Billet electronic distributor in 2005, Edelbrock 4-bl carb and aluminum intake, 2.25 dual exhaust, hardened valves and valve seats on stock heads. Factory “Air Temp” A/C (upgraded to 134a Sanden conversion kit in 2005, added NOS AC/heater 5-button switch and 30-amp relay to get load off under-dash harness). HD torsion bars, added HD rear springs with load-leveler/coil-over shocks, added PB from a donor car. Upgraded PS pump brackets w/Saginaw pump to eliminate pump vibration. To alleviate detonation, added Griffin aluminum cross-flow radiator w/custom brackets, HP aluminum water pump, high-flow thermostat, straight Evans Coolant w/370 degree boiling point to stop boiling in heads (also allows 7-pound radiator cap to reduce pressure on original heater core). Electric fuel pump through pressure regulator (return-style to fuel tank). Powermaster 140-amp “one-wire” alternator in 2005, w/custom brackets I made for Mopar big block A/C car. New NAPA PS box, Mopar high-volume oil pump, NOS front hub/drum assemblies, NAPA starter, NOS positive battery-to-starter wiring, NOS under-dash harness (w/appropriate add-ons for upgrades), auxiliary fuse block to handle add-ons, brake light & high-beam relays to handle halogens, re-wired engine compartment harness, new NAPA front suspension bushings in 2005, ball joints, tie-rod ends, wheel bearings, brakes, NOS fuel tank sending unit, fuel lines (fronts in 2005), carpeting, fuel gauge from donor car, restore radio. Sand, prep and paint with several coats of Por-15 rust preventive paint to aid in long-term preservation (underbody, trunk, floor boards, engine compartment, inside doors, brake lines, bumpers, etc.). Temporary silicone sealant on windshield and back window to keep out moisture.
I have maintained and repaired the car with the objective of achieving reliable long-term driving. Will, someday, need paint and body work and trim re-installed.
