I have dreamed of having this car for many years. My dad had purchased two of these in 1970,
one for his dad, and one for himself. My dad’s car was a purple R/T 4-speed with a white vinyl top
and white interior. It was totaled before I was old enough to admire it and only had pictures of it to
look at when I got older. My wife Donna and I had gone and looked at a few 70 Chargers before
she found this one on the internet. It was located in Ocala Florida. I got up early one morning and
flew to Florida, rented a car and drove for three hours to see it. The car was fairly complete with a
few extra coats of paint and 83,000 original miles on it. I purchased the car in May of 1999 and had
it delivered to Lewisville, TX.
After a few years of work and building a couple of other people’s cars to help fund this project,
It is finally ready to come out and play. The car is about 90% correct numbers matching. After all of
the time and money spent on this car I do not use the term “restore” loosely. Although this has been
a fun project, I can see why it cost a lot of money, and I still have a ways to go before the nationals!
