This is Sybil.
She was born on March 6, 1969. She is know as "Sybil" because she is solid and
dependable one moment and an unpredictable, hellion the next--she clearly has
multiple personalities. She began life as a "White hat Special" with a 383 and a
console mounted automatic transmission and air conditioning. She started as
more of a "classy lady" with typical accessories rather than one of those "fast
girls" your mother warned you about. She was raised in Arkansas where bad boys
found her attractive and who mistreated her. She was ridden so rough that she
blew up and then sat for many years with her "heart" broken. Sybil became a Texan
sometime in the late 70's where she received a new heart, a rebuilt 400 model
from a '72 Newport donor who met an early demise. She kept her '69 appearance
with stock exhaust and intake manifolds but got a sassy new "J-Lo attitude" from
the help of a cam. Her "inner beauty" is in very good condition being
completely stock and saddle in color. Although she receive her face-lift in the early
90s and has aged well and does not look a day over 50 (thousand miles) aand even
retains her original exhaust. Only a smidge of Botox is all that is required.
She was with her second owner for 23 years but sat for the better part of the
last 15. Clearly this isolation took its toll as the "poltergeists of inactivity"
crop up occasionally in form of corroded electrical surfaces or clogged "this
or that." Sybil was clearly meant to run.
She came into my possession last summer and is now giving the opportunity "get
out" on a regular basis. She still is having trouble with her new found freedom
and get rebellious on occasion. But, with 120,00 on the clock she still (when
she is in the mood) she handles well runs smooth and still catches glances.
Although she is "high maintenance" I still love her. We are currently enrolled in
therapy and are on "step nine of her 12 step program;" we spend a lot of time
apologizing to everyone we have ever wronged. This summer our goal is to have
only two personalities; "on-off."
