Mike Miller's 1979 AMC Spirit
I bought this car about 6 months ago just to have something of my own to race. It isn't fast but
it is real consistent. It had a 304 AMC V8 transplanted into it some time in the past and I have no
idea how many miles are on the motor. The compression is good and so is the oil pressure so I
decided to have a little fun with what is in the car now. I have installed a very mild cam and headers,
a 9" Ford rear with 4.10 gears and replace the factory 2 bbl carb with a..... bigger 2 bbl !
In the second TMCCC race I took it to, I ran back to back dead-on-dial runs with the next 2 being
on the brakes with identical E.T.'s. I survived long enough to win the Stock Muscle class that day.
I have since improved on the times enough to run the car in Factory Muscle with a best run of
9.39. A little more work and it should quicken up a bit more.
Some time in the future it may just get a 360 or 401 nestled into the engine bay!
