With this month being our BIG SHOW, we thought we would feature last year's "Best of Show" winner, Chuck Hjerpe's 1970 Dodge Charger. Although Chuck has owned this car less than 2 years it has been in his dreams for over 30 years!

You see Chuck's dad purchased a brand new Charger the "spitten image" of this one in January of 1971. Not long after that he gave the car to Chuck. Chuck drove it through his High School years and was the envy of a lot of guys, won every drag ran he competed in except one (lost to a souped up Road Runner w/4 speed), whacked a telephone pole and was grounded over 7 months from driving any Hjerpe family car and worked to pay the entire bill to fix it, had his first date with his wife Cindy, used it as their wedding night getaway car, well those are just a few of the great memories! Then in 1976, Chuck made one of the worst decisions known to mankind and I'm sure every Mopar enthusiast would agree, he traded the Charger in on a 1973 VEGA! Not long after that the dreams began of finding the Charger and buying it back!

23 years later the dream came true thanks to Dan Robinson (Cowtown member) who helped him find this car on the Internet. A doctor in California had just completely restored it back to original and with Cindy's blessing Chuck recovered from the worst mistake of mankind and bought his "Dream Car" back.

One day at a show someone asked Chuck what the car was worth and would he sell it. Chuck's answer was "well you will have to ask Cindy or one of my kids after I die because I will never sell it! You see this car represents many of the best memories of my life and there's no amount of money in the world that can ever replace that!"
